Four decades of faith-driven advocacy for justice, health, and human dignity across Southern Africa.
Our Vision: A Southern Africa where the equality and dignity of every human being is upheld, irrespective of gender, skin colour, social status, health, ethnicity, religion, age, sexual orientation, or ability.
Our Mission: To provide a forum for sharing ideas and best practices, develop resources, build capacities, support and coordinate implementation of health and gender justice programmes across all member countries.
Founded in 1980 as the Fellowship of Christian Councils in East and Southern Africa (FOCCESA), the organisation became FOCCISA in 1999 with a renewed regional focus. As a member of the World Council of Churches, FOCCISA has evolved into one of the region's most trusted faith-based advocacy organisations.

Renamed FOCCISA with renewed focus on the Southern African region
Launch of the One Body Project, addressing HIV/AIDS and rights across 11 countries
11 nations, 240+ member churches, and decades of transformative impact
We act with transparency and accountability in all our dealings, with members, communities, and partners.
We centre the dignity and humanity of every individual, especially those who are most marginalised and vulnerable.
We believe systemic inequality must be challenged, in the church, in communities, and in national policy.
Every voice matters. Our networks are spaces of radical welcome, across gender, age, health status, and background.
Our faith compels us to act, in advocacy, in dialogue, and in the transformation of communities.
We believe in the power of collective action across denominations, nations, and sectors to multiply impact.
FOCCISA coordinates Councils of Churches across Southern Africa. Each national council has between 10 and 25 member denominations and organisations.
