FOCCISA / What We Do

Five Pillars of Transformation

Our work is grounded in faith and driven by justice, addressing root causes through five strategic programme areas.

Pillar One

Health Advocacy

Through our faith network, we reach communities that governments and NGOs often miss. We champion HIV/AIDS response, sexual and reproductive health rights, and equitable access to healthcare across all 11 member nations.

Our church-based approach means health messaging reaches deep into communities with trust and cultural resonance, transforming behaviour and saving lives.

  • HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment support & stigma reduction
  • Sexual & reproductive health rights education
  • Community health champion training
  • Healthcare access advocacy with governments
  • Maternal and child health programming
Health Advocacy
Gender Justice
Pillar Two

Gender Justice

We believe gender equality is not a secular agenda, it is a theological imperative. Through gender audits, transformation toolkits, and GBV prevention programmes, we challenge patriarchal structures within churches and communities alike.

Our flagship resource, "Created in God's Image," is a comprehensive toolkit enabling churches to become spaces of genuine equality and safety.

  • Gender-Based Violence prevention & response
  • Gender transformation toolkit, "Created in God's Image"
  • Church gender policy audits & reform
  • Women's leadership development
  • Intimate partner violence support systems
Pillar Three

Community Empowerment

Transformation is not something done to communities, it is done with them. We mobilise grassroots champions, train dialogue facilitators, and create platforms where the voices of the most marginalised drive the agenda.

  • Grassroots advocacy training
  • Local champion programme
  • Youth engagement & leadership
  • Community dialogue facilitation
  • Safe space creation for marginalised groups
Community Empowerment
Faith Impact
Pillar Four

Faith & Social Impact

The moral authority of faith communities is one of Africa's most underutilised social resources. We harness it, facilitating dialogues that transform stigma into understanding and silence into solidarity.

  • Interfaith dialogues on inclusion & human rights
  • Theological engagement on justice issues
  • Church leader capacity building
  • Faith-based counselling & support
  • Regional ecumenical assemblies
Pillar Five

Policy & Dialogue

Grassroots change must be matched by structural transformation. We engage SADC, the African Union, and national governments, holding them accountable to the rights of all citizens, including the most marginalised.

  • SADC & AU policy engagement
  • Anti-xenophobia advocacy
  • National government dialogue
  • Civil society coalition building
  • Human rights reporting & documentation
